Mothercare's weaning products

Dolly is now over 5 months old and so I am gearing up to start weaning her. I feel equally as excited as I did when I began to wean Betty because it is such a huge milestone in a baby’s development. But this time I feel a million times more relaxed about it. The first ever post I wrote on this blog was indeed about the first time I made Betty a puree, which turned into a real palaver.

I had neatly packed away all of Betty’s first bowls and spoons once she had moved onto the next stage, and intended to use them for our next baby. However, when I unpacked them the other day they were all looking a little bit stained and battered and so I decided that for my precious Dolly she needed some brand new dining items of her very own.

I was thrilled when I received my little parcel from Mothercare yesterday, containing all sorts of delights, from miniature freezer pots with handy date dials (for all the tiny portions of puree that I am going to lovingly prepare), to an Annabel Karmel food flask that keeps baby food warm whilst out and about, to items from their tasteful Softcare range such as weaning bowls with suction base, and first cups, which either come in pink or blue.

Also included in the order was a baby lunch bag which looks stylish and is perfect for carrying all feeding/drinking items you need for a baby whilst out and about. This certainly beats the plastic supermarket carrier bag I used to use for Betty.

Every time any of us eat in front of Dolly she stares hard at us, with her mouth opening and closing, so I think it is perhaps cruel to delay it any further. The Hipp Organic baby rice has been bought, her crockery and cutlery are at the ready, so here goes…

Cushi Tush

The lovely Cushi Tush team have sent me a fab pink Cushi Tush baby seat for Dolly, and also a Lil' Cushi Tush toy seat for Betty's doll.

This baby seat is relatively new. It is lightweight, sturdy, looks very snug and comfortable, and provides a perfect place to put your baby for either play or feeding. The baby sits in an upright position which is great for Dolly because she has never been that happy about lying at a slight angle in a bouncer - she would much rather see what is going on. The seat has a tray which slots in and secures the baby in position - this, and the upright position means that it is ideal for the weaning period when baby is too small/young for a highchair. It is wipe clean and so can be used outside.

It is made from ARPRO® (Expanded Polypropylene) which is non-toxic, environmentally friendly green material, and is recyclable. It comes in some vibrant and fun colours and is suitable from 3 months up to 18 months.

I am very excited about this product because it is so lightweight and small it is easy to take with you to friends houses and on picnics etc. And the biggest endorsement of this product is that Dolly loves sitting in it. She is contented and happy in it and loves the fact that she can see everything around her and can play with her toys on the tray without them falling away from her all the time.

The Lil' Cushi Tush is a miniature version of the baby seat, and apart from its size, is exactly the same. This has meant that Betty has felt included in the whole thing and has delighted in lining up her baby sister and her doll in these seats and giving them toys to play with. What a genius idea!

This really is a great product, thank you Cushi Tush!
